CENOTE ANGELITA
Angelita is difficult to describe. It is for sure a magical, mysterious, and often defined as a spooky place. You really have to dive and experience it by yourself!
This dive is different from other cenote dives because you dive only in the open water area.
The specialty of this sinkhole is a 2m/6ft thick layer of hydrogen sulfide at around 27m/88ft which formed through rotten vegetation and which separates the fresh water from salt water below. Out of this opaque artificial seeming surface rises the top of the collapsed cave ceiling, like a half moon shaped island with trees on it. While ascending there is a small cavern loop, a large single stalagmite, and the reflection of the trees surrounding the cenote, which can be appreciated.
We perform a multilevel profile dive, ascending progressively, making circles around the cylinder.
This dives requires as minimum of an advanced open water diver or deep specialty certification and the diver must have demonstrated excellent diving skills on previous cavern dives (green and blue level) with us.
