Cenote Taak Bi Ha

Taak Bi Ha, which means “Hidden Route of Water” in Maya, is one of the newer cenotes open for cenote cavern diving. This cenote has an abundance of fragile stalactites, stalagmites, and many spectacular columns.

A small entrance with a very steep stairway leads down into an amazing try cavern area which is illuminated for visitors. Close to the entrance we find a hole from where tanks can be lowered and lifted back up with a rope with the help of the cenote crew for a small fee.

Most importantly, to dive in Cenote Taak Bi Ha, divers must demostrate excellent diving skills and buoyancy control due to its shallow water and the very fragile nature of the decorations. Further, divers must provide proof that they have dived at least one Level 1, 2, and 3 cenotes before they can be taken to discover Cenote Taak Bi Ha.

Cenote Taak Bi Ha is part of the Sac Actun System (former Dos Ojos System), the longest underwater river system in the world with 376 km (234 miles) of explored lines.

Cenote Taak Bi Ha is also a spectacular cenote for snorkeling. The crystal-clear waters allow for excellent visibility, revealing stunning formations. Snorkelers are advised to follow safety guidelines and respect the delicate ecosystem.
