ADVANCED CAVE: DIVER PROPULSION VEHICLE (DPV) DIVER

We teach the Adv. Cave: Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Diver program following the standards of IANTD (International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers).

Program Purpose

The purpose of Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Diver course is to provide advanced training in cave diving skills to the experienced, certified, responsible cave diver who wishes to conduct dives that warrant Diver Propulsion Vehicle use and techniques.

The training exposes cave divers to conservation concerns and ethical responsibilities that present themselves during DPV uses either for extended penetration, touring, or exploration.

Program Prerequisites

Certifications requirements: Candidate must hold an IANTD Technical Cave Diver certification or equivalent

 

Age requirement: Candidate must be a minimum or 18 years of age

 

Dive experience: Candidate must provide proof of a minimum of 50 logged Cave Dives

Program Requirements

Candidates must complete:

– A minimum of 240 minutes of cave DPV bottom time

– Four (4) advanced cave DPV dives

Program Content

Lecture includes but is not limited to:

– Motives risks for DPV diving

– Equipment configuration and streamlining techniques for DPV diving

– Procedures and techniques for DPV diving along with reasons for DPV use in the cave environment

– Task loading and dive/gas planning needs for DPV diving

– Gas sharing and towing techniques

– Conservation considerations for DPV handling, minimizing cave impact, considerations for the increased range of penetration

– Safe charging, transport, and maintenance procedures for DPVs
